(Sacramento) California Assemblymember Mike Eng (D-Monterey Park) has written legislation to crack down on unlicensed contractors who rip off consumers, while protecting law abiding contractors. Engs Assembly Bill 370 will also give consumers more tools to seek restitution from an unlicensed contractor. The U.S. Office of Consumer Affairs reports unscrupulous contractors defraud consumers out of more $100-billion nationwide each year. AB 370 has passed the State Assembly and is now under consideration by the State Senate. Learn more in this Assembly Web Report.
